Gastric byp and gallbladder removal for mal absorbtion...why?

my girlfriend had gastric byp 5 months ago its actually a revision and now she is not absorbing any nutrients including the prenatal vitamins b-12 shots or anything else they are now going to remove her gallbladder...why?
